Using technology in the classroom can be simple, even in kindergarten. Below are three tools specifically that I want to incorporate in my classroom instruction.
Podcast: What is a podcast, you ask. A podcast is an audio file that can be played on a MP3 player, like an IPOD. This summer I attended a workshop to learn about "Kinder PODS". Throughout the year I will have the students create a kinder POD of their own. Check back later in the year to listen...
Blogs: You would think since I teach kindergarten, we wouldn't be able to use a blog. But you are wrong! Even kindergartners can participate, of course with a little help from their parents. A blog is beneficial for both parents and students. Daily, weekly, or monthly I will update the blog with new things happening in the classroom. The blog with include pictures and videos to watch, questions for the students to answer, and just an update for the parents.
Educational Games: Kid's love playing games. There are a lot of good educational games on the internet that you could play at home. You can find some of these games under the "Kids" tab. During certain lessons, I will incorporate educational board games for the students to play in their centers. Not only are they playing games, they learning without even knowing it.
